27 Years · New York & Jerusalem
Joy Langer is a New York artist working in mixed media, watercolor, murals, and commissioned works. Her paintings layer color, texture, and symbol into something new — finding beauty in what was already there.
Joy works in mixed media and watercolor, layering old paintings into new collages — the way she teaches yoga, always finding new openings in familiar things. Her imagery is symbolic and personal: ladders climbing, trees growing, circles completing.
Turquoise and green run through the work — healing colors, she calls them. Rich, contrasting, alive. The paintings ask the same questions her yoga does: what holds us back? What sets us free?
Commissions are open. Original murals, ketubbot, mixed media pieces — reach out to start a conversation.
Layered works combining watercolor, acrylic, and repurposed paintings. Textural, symbolic, deeply personal.
Original murals for homes, nurseries, and businesses in New York and Israel. Playful to profound.
Custom hand-painted Jewish marriage documents. A meaningful commission for a meaningful occasion.
A strong eye honed over decades. Film-era and digital work with a painter's sense of light and composition.
Commissions welcome. Whether you're looking for a mural, a ketubbah, or a piece of original art — Joy loves creating work that means something to the people who will live with it.

— Joy Langer
Before yoga became her focus, Joy spent 27 years as a teaching artist in New York City schools. She worked across all ages — preschool through high school — and across every medium: mixed media, printmaking, portfolio development, arts integration.
She still offers private art instruction for individuals and small groups. If you're an adult who always wanted to make art, a teenager applying to a specialized school, or a parent looking for something meaningful for your child — Joy would love to work with you.
Whether it's a commission, a question about a piece, or an inquiry about art lessons — Joy would love to hear from you. Every piece she creates is made with the person in mind who will live with it.
